Lion Phinda Pride Vessel
Victor Mtshali’s exceptional skill as a sculptor shines in this magnificent masterwork, specially created to celebrate Ardmore’s 40th Anniversary.
Inspired by the Phinda Pride scarf, the sculpture brings to life a powerful visual story: a pride of lions, symbols of unity, courage, and family, gather beneath lush floral motifs. Above them, the turaco bird, representing freedom and abundance, perches gracefully alongside the characterful hornbill, a symbol of strength, royalty, and divine messages.
Wiseman Mpofu brings the piece to vibrant life with a rich palette of pinks and maroons, beautifully juxtaposed with the golden-yellow tones of the lions. His brushwork adds depth, contrast, and warmth, enhancing the emotional and symbolic layers of the sculpture. This masterwork is a true celebration of Ardmore’s artistry, heritage, and enduring spirit.
